SUMMARY:Workshop on Japanning Techniques
DESCRIPTION:The workshop (17.-19. April 2018 in London) will be practical based and attendees will leave with a a japanned panel and a box. There will be some handouts including the historical background and technical information. The focus of the course will be on the traditional 17th century & 18th century japanning techniques; a la Stalker & Parker\, with a range of modern materials also explored. The ethics and best conservation practice will be addressed but all in an informal and relaxed atmosphere.
