SUMMARY:Call for Papers "Die Fassung bewahren. Keep color – keep cool"
DESCRIPTION:Der VDR und die Fachgruppe Polychrome Bildwerke laden mit freundlicher Unterstützung der Technischen Universität München zu der Tagung „Die Fassung bewahren. Konservierung und Restaurierung polychromer Bildwerke“ am 22. und 23.03.2019 herzlich ein.\n \nIm Blickpunkt der Tagung liegen die besonderen Herausforderungen polychromer Bildwerke sowie die restauratorischen Fragestellungen zum Umgang mit beschädigten Oberflächenstrukturen oder einer veränderten Farbigkeit der Kunstwerke. Ob nun gefasste antike Marmorfiguren\, mit Pressbrokat verzier-te mittelalterliche Holzskulpturen oder farbige Gipsplastiken des 19. Jahrhunderts – gemeinsam ist all diesen Werken die Kombination aus dreidimensionaler Form und farbiger Oberfläche\, die die Zielset-zung\, das Konzept und die technische Umsetzung der Konservierung/ Restaurierung bestimmt. \nSeit Beginn der Skulpturenrestaurierung fanden unterschiedliche Lösungsansätze Anwendung. Aktuell wird offenkundig eine Zurückhaltung propagiert\, die nicht unbedingt der tatsächlichen praktischen Herangehensweise entspricht. Doch wie werden derzeit Entscheidungen gefällt und welche Maßnahmen kommen zur Durchführung? Welche Erwartungen werden an das restaurierte Objekt gestellt? Welche Faktoren bestimmen die Restaurierung und haben sich diese in den letzten Jahrzehnten gewandelt? Wie gehen wir mit früheren Restaurierungsmaßnahmen um? Die Tagung soll ein Bild des heutigen Stands vom Umgang mit den Oberflächen polychromer Bildwerke geben\, wobei neben theoretischen Vorüberlegungen vor allem die praktisch-technische Umsetzung von besonderem Interesse ist. \nUm eine Standortfindung zu ermöglichen\, sollen verschiedene Fragestellungen\, Konzepte und die technischen Umsetzungen vorgestellt werden\, sowohl Best-practice-Beispiele als auch schwierige Fälle\, welche die Diskussion anregen. \nCall for Papers zum Download (including english version) \nEinsendeschluss für Abstracts ist der 30. Juli 2018 \nBildnachweis: Cornelia Saffarian\, 2018\n \n\nEnglish version: \nAfter the great success of the conference on the restoration of panel paintings in May 2015\, the focus of another conference organized by the Association of Conservators now will be on polychrome sculptures\, and the practise of their conservation and restoration. With the kind support of the Technical University of Munich\, the VDR and the polychrome sculptures section cordially invite you to the conference on 22nd and 23rd March 2019. \nThe conference will focus on the special challenges of polychrome sculpture and the questions of conservation regarding damaged surface structures or changes in the chromaticity. Antique marble figures\, medieval wood sculptures decorated with pressed brocade or colored plaster sculptures of the 19th century – they all have in common the combination of three-dimensional form and polychrome surface which determines the aim\, the concept and the technical realisation of the conservation restoration \nSince the beginning of sculpture conservation\, different approaches have been used. Currently\, a restrain regarding interventions is propagated which does not necessarily correspond to the practical approach. But how are decisions made at the moment and which treatments are carried out? What are the expectations placed on the restored sculpture? What factors determine the conservation – and did they change in the recent decades? How do we deal with previous restoration treatments?\nThe conference aims at reflecting the current state in dealing with the surfaces of polychrome sculptures. For this\, in addition to theoretical considerations\, the practical and technical aspects of the implementation are of particular interest. \nVarious problems\, concepts\, and the resulting technical implementation will be presented – best practice examples as well as difficult cases\, to stimulate discussion. \nDeadline for submission of abstracts is July 30\, 2018. \nPartner \n
