SUMMARY:Vortrag "Wand- und Deckenmalereien der Renaissance in Sachsen"
DESCRIPTION:Am 22.02.2023 lädt das Landesamt für Denkmalpflege Sachsen (LfD) um 15.30 Uhr zum Vortrag »Wand- und Deckenmalereien der Renaissance in Sachsen« in das Ständehaus in Dresden ein. Prof. Dr. Angelica Dülberg\, Kunsthistorikerin und ehemalige Referentin im LfD\, stellt in ihrem Bildervortrag bekannte und weniger bekannte außergewöhnliche sächsische Wand- und Deckenmalereien aus dieser Kunstepoche vor. \nSachsen ist außerordentlich reich an Zeugnissen der Wand- und Deckenmalerei\, die auch in kleineren Städten\, Schlössern und Herrensitzen der Renaissance in den vergangenen Jahrzehnten wieder zutage getreten sind. Zahlreiche interessante und außergewöhnliche Malereien in Renaissancehäusern sind speziell in den traditionsreichen Städten Pirna\, Meißen\, Torgau\, Grimma\, Zwickau\, Görlitz und Freiberg zu finden. Die erhaltenen und wiederentdeckten Beispiele spiegeln eine hohe und vielfältige Kultur der kunstvollen malerischen Ausstattung in den Bürgerhäusern wider. Sie dienten zur Dekoration oder dem Repräsentationswillen des Bauherrn und Auf- traggeber\, zeigten deren persönlichen Anspruch und geistiges Anliegen. Zu den Bauherren zählten neben Patriziern\, Kaufleuten und Tuchmachern auch einfachere\, im Handwerk oder im Bergbau tätige Bürger. \nDer Vortrag gehört zum Begleitprogramm der Jahresausstellung des LfD »Decken- und Wandmalerei in Sachsen«\, die bis 28. DESCRIPTION:Object-Event-Performance: Art\, Materiality\, and Continuity\nWednesday\, February 22\, 2023\, 17:00-18:30 CET  \nThe SNSF (Swiss National Science Foundation) research project Performance: Conservation\, Materiality\, Knowledge\, in collaboration with the SNSF research project Activating Fluxus\, is pleased to host a public presentation of the book titled Object-Event-Performance: Art\, Materiality\, and Continuity Since the 1960s (2022; ed. by Hanna B. Hölling). \n\nMuch of the artwork that rose to prominence in the second half of the twentieth century took on novel forms—such as installation\, performance\, event\, video\, film\, earthwork\, and intermedia works with interactive and networked components—that pose a new set of questions about what art actually is\, both physically and conceptually. For conservators\, this raises an existential challenge when considering what elements of these artworks can and should be preserved. \nThis event features a book that revisits the traditional notions of conservation and museum collecting that developed over the centuries to suit a conception of art as static\, fixed\, and permanent objects. Conservators and museum professionals increasingly struggle with issues of conservation for works created from the mid-twentieth to the twenty-first century that are unstable over time. As participants in conservation\, the contributors to this volume—often non-conservators—form a community of practice that share common interests. \nThe book asks what it means to conserve artworks that fundamentally address and embody the notion of change and\, through this questioning\, guides us to reevaluate the meaning of art\, of objects\, and of materiality itself. Object-Event-Performance considers a selection of post-1960s artworks that have all been chosen for their instability\, changeability\, performance elements\, and processes that pose questions about their relationship to conservation practices. With chapters by Hannah B Higgins\, Hanna B. Hölling\, Gregory Zinman\, Andrea Gyorody\, Alison D’Amato\, Megan Metcalf\, Rebecca Uchill\, Susanne Neubauer\, Beryl Graham and Johannes Hedinger\, this book aims to become a welcome resource on contemporary conservation for art historians\, scholars of performance\, dance\, theatre and museum studies\, curators\, and conservators. The volume has been published by Bard Graduate Center within the series Cultural Histories of the Material World edited by Peter Miller and is available from the University of Chicago Press (PDF and cloth). \nThe event will feature an introduction by the book’s editor\, Hanna B. Hölling\, followed by short presentations by contributing authors Hannah B Higgins\, Gregory Zinman\, Andrea Gyorody and Megan Mefcalf. A panel discussion will follow. Moderation by Jules Pelta Feldman. There will be a possibility to ask questions during a Q&A. \nThis event is free\, but you need to register here in order to attend. A chapter introduction and a Zoom link will be distributed to attendees before the event. The book will be available to the registered attendees at a reduced rate.
